For the first time since the foundation of the SCD orphanage in 2006, five students will graduate from Cambodian state school. At this point in time there are no funds available to ensure continuation of their education. It costs $3025 to $4215 per year per student to provide further college-level schooling. With more education, these young Cambodians are given the chance to improve the quality of their lives and that of their families, and contribute one person at a time to the rebuilding of their country.
In organizing this school fund our objective is to provide continuation of college-level education to students from the SCD orphanage. Besides university fees, funds will be allocated to school supplies, housing fees, transportation costs, allowances and medical expenses. All five current graduates have shown to be capable of, and motivated for higher studies, and are considered eligible to receive support from the school fund. Helping these students to achieve a higher education level, and to create a basis for their sustainable future is the most worthwhile investment in a country that is very low on educated human resources, and is trying to recover from years of war and genocide.
